Paying It Forward: We Are Family
Many volunteer to fill time or support a cause. Absent from weekly lunch service to others; Another volunteer I met said, "We missed you!" Uplifing, I went to serve; and became blessed by another.
Many volunteer to fill idle time or support a dear cause.
Recent absences from served lunches caused the volunteer to tell me that, “We missed you,” as I donated at Faith Store.
Pausing in reflection, I genuflected while serving lunch to help another, another’s blessing lifts my spirits. Volunteering strengthens our community. There are so many community organizations and ways to get involved. Connect non-profit needs with available volunteers using facebook.com/groups/servewichitafalls/
Monday Dr. Stacia Haynie, President and graduate of MSU Texas spoke at the Southwest Rotary Club. Nine Road to College mentors joined as guests. Making the best of their opportunity, several mentors gathered with Dr. Haynie at one table enjoying lunch and discussion prior to her sharing her thoughts with all.
Haynie noted the transformation of lives from investing in an education. Approaching her first anniversary as President of MSU Texas, she notes the challenges for higher education as demographics show a declining percentage of 18-year olds starting in 2025.
Universities across the country are recruiting students from Texas due to our increasing population. Students have access to the university of their choice. Texas continues strong funding for post-secondary education. MSU Texas benefits as one of the schools in the Texas Tech System. MSU’s emphasis, to be student’s university of choice.
Blood Needed Urgently: Friday, I was the only one there for an hour, then two more joined me; space for 6-8 to donate at one time.
Too often we miss the real quality of life. Enjoy the best by savoring inputs from all your senses.
⁃ Everyone matters and gains from volunteering - better or worse
