Paying it Forward: What's your point?
How crisp is your message about your nonprofit? Between now and New Year’s Day you’ll likely talk to a third to half of the people with whom you annually interact. One sentence pitch your nonprofit!
How crisp is your message about your nonprofit? Between now and New Year’s Day you’ll likely talk to a third to half of the people with whom you annually interact. Imagine what a difference could be made for your nonprofit if you mentioned your favorite non-profit in passing -- very succinctly.
Are you prepared if asked, “How are you?”
Consider receiving an answer, “I’m making a difference as a child’s personal voice while they are in foster care after experiencing abuse or neglect.”
Would you stop and chat?
Yesterday, the Rotary club of Wichita Falls Southwest heard more about this topic from Casey Washington of CASAwf.org. Casey is the Volunteer and Marketing Coordinator for Court Appointed Special Advocates of Red River. As a child enters foster care locally, the court appoints a CASA volunteer. This volunteer has been trained to advocate for the child, communicating with the child and the court. CASA’s vision, develop safe, happy and healthy children.
My ears perked up as our community needs all of our children to be the best they can. Casey shared that donations and community events support those needing help locally.
Volunteers seeking to become advocates receive the training needed for success as local advocates helping those who’ve suffered abuse or neglect. Another opportunity comes in November with a Christmas gifting tree so volunteers can gift CASA children.
When I see you, I look forward to hearing your answer. I still fine tuning my greeting.
Here’s one opening, “Listening to another’s prayers before serving lunch at Faith Mission renews my faith and hope.” Another is, “Volunteered to Collect donations; it’s fun seeing the excitement in the generations touring the MSU-Burns Fantasy of Lights”
Do you have your best answer ready? Talk to people, and encourage more to volunteer. You can make our community better.
Do you still send cards? It’s pure magic for one’s soul when opening a Christmas card, and reading someone’s “update letter” along with their group photo for the fridge. I love getting a Christmas card from Eric and Marie, in two pages I’ve visited their family and caught up. I always call after receiving their card. Send cards and call while you can; my list is shorter this year.
Get organized while you have a couple of months. If it’s not important . . .
